Chasing pavements

When I was young, I remember how my mom would always buy us dresses for parties. She would make me and my two other sisters wear the same thing as if we’re going to perform a production number. At one specific birthday party, she made us wear orange. I sulked as I looked at myself in front of the mirror. Compared to my sisters who were gleaming in tangerine, I, well, I just wanted to flush myself in the toilet. If not inside the car hiding, I’d be waiting for the equally hideous jesters to finish their tricks so that we can finally go home. And I thought to myself, I hate this color.

shorts (H&M) | tank top | slim belt (Preview) | fringe necklace (Quirkypedia) | chained bag | grey platform pumps (Alice Viterbo) | gold cuff | beaded bracelet | leopard-printed connector ring (Jellybean)

Oh well, I guess we all have childhood horror stories to share. Eventually I grew up and got over mine. Now my more matured fashion sense already appreciates the beauty of citrus colors. In fact, when I bought these shorts, the piece actually stood out from the rack. My art teacher from grade school told me that orange looks its best when paired with blue (at least that much I remember), so I took her advice when I was putting this outfit together.

I had fun playing with colors so I threw in a blue/white fringe necklace and a purple chained bag, plus the sea green slim belt and beaded bracelet. I know I am over-accessorizing again, but I could not stress any further the importance of investing on accessories. It will come in handy one day, you’ll see.

Anyhow, today is the first day of August and I’m spending it chasing pavements. If you read my previous post, you’re probably already aware that I just resigned from work. I was an HR practitioner for eight months in IBM Business Services, I became part of a wonderful team and I could not be any more thankful for the learning experience. But as all good things must come to an end, I am currently on a journey to self discovery. I am enjoying a two-week vacation before I start a new career path in another company. It’s not all roses and champagne though, I have lots of requirements that I need to work on before my first day. I will be writing a lot as Resorts World Manila’s new marketing communication specialist, so I’m really excited and I hope to do well. *fingers crossed* 0_o
